Import Your HD Projector, Or Not?
A little bit of research into the HD projector will quickly show you that the cost of such a projector can be quite steep. A reasonably good quality HD projector can set you back £1,000 quite easily and you need to think about the type of screen you plan to project onto as well. It is not surprising therefore that options to purchase your HD projector from overseas and import it into the country become an attractive seeming option. But before you take the plunge and place the order you should just consider a few things that might make the import option less attractive.
You need to think about taking out some protection against delivery problems. What will you do if your HD projector gets damaged in transit, whose responsibility is it to ensure safe delivery, who pays the cost of returning faulty products. You should ensure you are protected from these problems by reading the small print (terms and conditions) properly and asking questions and seeking confirmation from the vendor. Possibly think about taking out insurance, the cost of the insurance may be irritating but the overall cost may still make it worth your while.
It is quite likely that the warranty provided with your HD projector relates only to the country in which it is sold. So what will you do if you have a problem a few months down the line. Again, you may have to make separate arrangements to get peace of mind, and this can push the cost back up again.
In summary it may well seem that importing your HD projector from overseas is a cost effective plan but make sure that you understand the risks associated with undertaking such a course of action. You want to get hours of pleasure from your HD projector. Make sure you don’t put this at risk for the sake of a few quid.
